At last the evening sky gave way to night. Our campfire drew us close and after a good but simple meal cooked over the fire we lapsed into a shared silence.

In the heavens high above extraordinary lights lit the sky and we, the very young, not so young and no longer young, seemed suddenly superfluous.

Compared to the avaricious wants of modern life, how little we really need to sustain us.
