Lokhandwala is a bustling concrete jungle in the western suburbs of Mumbai. But this section of the sidewalk next to a garbage dump is like a scene out of Hitchcock's Birds. A community of thousands of birds mostly pigeons live here and feed on the grain fed by the local residents. The birds are totally unafraid of humans and one pigeon was perched on my head as took these shots. It would indeed be revealing to find out if these birds outnumber the humans in Lokhandwala.
