The annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is thought by many to be the ultimate auto show, and serves as the centerpiece of a week-long celebration of the motor car's place in contemporary society. Auctions, historic races, and at least four major showings of collectible automobiles fill out the week. This year's event was the 56th show to be staged on the 18th green of the world's most expensive public golf course, and included over 250 elegant and/or historic vehicles competing in 25 classes for the world's most prestigious blue ribbons. This year, as always, several thousand aficionados were willing to part with $150.00 each to wander amidst elegant iron, and watch the passing parade on the ramp at the award ceremony. Inevitably, not everyone in attendance was impressed, and for some, the ubiquitous Game Boy™ came to the rescue.
