The 100 floor John Hancock building, designed by engineer Fazlur Kahn and architect Bruce Graham from Skidmore, Owings and Merrrill, was completed in 1970. It is located on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, near Water Tower Place. The view from the observation deck is not as high as the Sears Tower (which can be seen in the panorama) but is more interesting because it is nestled in the cluster of buildings downtown. They do not allow you to extend the legs of a tripod, which makes panoramic photography a little tricky. I tried to provide a circular view from each side of the building showing the entire city in one panorama. In 1996, I took a quicktime VR outside the John Hancock Building looking in from the NBC traffic helicopter after we did the news.
