This image at Yaki Point in the Grand Canyon was among the best shots that I have done in 2005. This particular pano was done following a day-long shoot the day before in and around the Grand Canyon for an advertising agency's client. Since this was my first trip to the Grand Canyon, and it was a quick trip at that, I wanted to maximize my time shooting.

Two other photographers, responsible for the still photography on this assignment, and I loaded up at 5:15am to catch sunrise at the South Rim. We headed to Yaki Point to see if we could find a remote vista. Once there, we geared up and shot like crazy.

The morning was cold, with the wind whipping up the canyon walls and right into our faces. The wind, coupled with the fact that I was severely underdressed, made the temperature quite chilly - somewhere near 35°F. I had expected the Grand Canyon in June to be fairly warm.

Small birds buzzed around us using the wind to their advantage by tucking their wings and riding the currents. The sky was crystal clear after a storm had passed through the night before. As an aside, we were able to get shots of a rainbow over the Canyon the night before - although I didn't have time to get a pano because the light was changing so quickly. Yeah - I know I missed a money shot there. . .
