(from the Virginia Wine Guide)

The King Family Vineyards is located on a 325 acre-farm in Crozet. The proprietors, David and Ellen King, (with sons Carrington, Stuart, and James) began their vineyard in 1999 on 14 acres and successfully sold their fruit to neighboring wineries. In October 2002, the Kings officially opened their own winery in partnership with winemaker, Michael Shaps. They jointly produced 1900 cases in their first year, while the Kings continued selling about one half of their fruit to neighboring wineries. The King family's high quality fruit and Michael Shaps' outstanding winemaking are a winning combination, judging from the first year's bottlings. Moreover, since David King and Michael Shaps are both committed to producing wines of the highest quality, we can expect to see even better wines in the future.

visit King Family Vineyards (and order their wine!) online at www.kingfamilyvineyards.com.
