Caroling Geary: Sending Blessings from the Beach

Behind the scene : how this panorama was made
There were two parts of the panorama: the photographic outer and the animated inner.

For the outer, I took many series of 360-degree photographs at the beach location. The first photos were the best in terms of color and texture of the wind-driven sand. These patterns were important for the message. The photos had a severe lighting problem in the quandrant surrounding the sun over water. I tried on other days, overcoming the exposure problem and eliminating banding in the stitched image. However, the expression was not as good as the original. I chose meaning over technique.

For the inner, I developed images that I've worked on for years, most recently in Macromedia Flash. QuickTime no longer supports Flash.
