The WWP December 2004 Sanctuary event gave me an opportunity to revisit the Mahayana Buddhist Temple in New York City. I've come here many times in the past usually after my elder sister has reminded me to do so to pay respects to my ancestors. We bring fruits and pastry items as offerings. The visit includes a donation, burning incense, bowing and resting in the presence in the Buddha image to reflect and collect our thoughts. The temple sound (from buddhamind.info ) is a common traditional chant called Dana and is heard when lay visitors and Buddhist monks participate in a meal offering.

This giant golden Buddha is seated on a lotus in the main hall of the Mahayana Buddhist Temple . Behind him a blue neon halo glows. Around the hall is a series of rare prints depicting the events in Buddha's life. The temple is located in New York City's Chinatown at Canal Street and Manhattan Bridge Plaza.
