The Pakenham Stone Bridge built in 1901 crosses the Mississippi River at the Village of Pakenham in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills in Ontario, Canada. This bridge is the only 5 arch masonry stone bridge on the North American continent. The bridge measure 268 feet (82 m) long by 22 feet (7.5 m) wide. Each arch is 40 feet (12 m with a 2 metre rise). The piers are 8 feet thick in order to withstand the pressure of the crashing ice flows and high water levels in the spring. The original cost of the bridge in 1901 was $14,500.00 CDN.
