In Triangle Park, just north of the Vigeland museum, the City of Oslo and the Norwegian Rose Association, has made a circular test bed for roses. The roses growing here are cultivated without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers. The aim is to find roses that are immune to diseases, and which are able to survive the tough winters in Oslo and the neighbouring areas. Frognerparken has the largest collection of roses in Norway, 14000 roses of 150 varieties. If you ever plan going here to smell some of them, do it in late june or the middle of august.
