The gardens of the Big Sur Coast are mostly hidden from public view, but each year the Big Sur Arts Initiative presents a self-guided tour of six or eight of them. This year, happily, the timing of the tour matched the WWP schedule and theme.
This lovely spot is on Abalone Cove near Garrapata State Park, and includes a comfortable house, outdoor sculpture, many benches from which to contemplate the surroundings, and a sunken fire pit just up the hill to the left, as well as deer-proof plantings and abundant flowers. It would be idyllic without all these garden-tourers, but even with them, it's a pretty amazing scene, especially when viewed full-screen.
