Near the eastern edge of my hometown, the "Rosenbach" (rose brook) is dammed, creating this slow-flowing pond of about two meters depth and some ten meters width that extends a hundred meters upstream. The water is rather clear. It springs from various sources scattered around the county and has its share of trouts and other fishes.

From here on, the brook is temporarily split in two separate branches. Part of it is used for cooling purposes in the "Maxhütte Rohrwerk", a steel pipes factory nearby. The flow there is regulated by the remotely adjustable dam at the far end of the footbridge. The rest follows the old brook (underneath the viewpoint) until it joins the Vils river a few kilometers downstream, however it's frequently "abused" as a dump - if you look closely, you'll notice the cylindrical shapes in the water to the right of the bridge. For some people it seems that walking across this bridge while holding on to bottles or beer cans is just too much multitasking...
