Since the Great State of Michigan does not have any location listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Tour (I'm sure this just some silly oversight that UNESCO in trying to correct). I choose one area in northern Michigan's lower peninsula that has always held a special place in my heart and I believe is most deserving of World Heritage status. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Glen Arbor, Michigan
Offering spectacular panoramic vistas of Lake Michigan and the surrounding area, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is one of the most beautiful and truly unique places in Michigan. This National Park stretches over 60 miles of Lake Michigan's shoreline and North and South Manitou Islands.
Created in 1970 by the National Park Service, this park preserves that natural and cultural features at are unique to this part of Michigan.
