Theme

As the atmosphere itself is mostly invisible I tried to show something that affects the atmosphere and thus the air we all breathe. The individual motor car traffic you see in the panorama influences the air most at the location I have chosen. The grey building on the lawn is a station that measures the impact of the traffic on the air. It is in operation since 01.01.1978.

Trivia

In Munich there are seven working stations measuring the air pollution. The shown station is located near a busy street in the city centre of Munich. The traffic around the nearby streets is more than 43000 cars a day. Measured pullution includes sulphur dioxide, nitrate monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, benzene, toluene, ozone and different types of particulate matter.
