I chose to highlight a physical border with my pano. It's taken atop East Esker in Mendon Ponds Park, New York. This esker forms a natural border between Devil's Bathtub (on the right) and Deep Pond (which is actually rather shallow). An esker is a long, sinuous hill created by sediments deposited along a glacial stream. After the the glacier melted, the sediments remained to form the narrow hill you see here.

Devil's Bathtub is a meromictic lake, of which there are only a few in the world. It was formed when a large block of glacial ice was buried. Once the ice melted, the deep lake you see now was formed in the resulting depression.

The entire Finger Lakes region of New York state, USA, sat at the border of the southern extent of glaciers many thousands of years ago. The region's landscape is strongly influenced by the glaciers.

This pano does little justice to the beauty of Mendon Ponds Park and East Esker. The scene will be far more pleasant in a month or so when the leaves are out and the pall of winter is replaced by the vibrancy of spring.
