About Viktualienmarkt The Viktualienmarkt is located in the heart of Munich and started at this location as a food market in 1807. It moved there from the Marienplatz, because the old location was too small for all the merchants. Today the area of the market is about 22000 square meters with 140 merchants selling cheese, meat, honey, flowers, bakery products, wine, juices, delicatessen, herbs, fish, produce, tea, ... The panorama was taken early in the morning when the merchants prepare their market stand, the trucks deliver goods and only the very early customers are around.
