This panaroma shows the weir "Kahlenberg" in my home town Muelheim an der Ruhr. The weir is still active, it regulates the water level of a hydroelectric power station. It was not easy to make my choice for my personal favourite panorama of 2007 but finally I decided to publish this one. My intention was to show a part of the area where I live and work and this panorama gives a good impression of the cooperation between nature and industry which is highly significant for the area "Ruhrgebiet". I know this place on stormy days as well as on sunny days and I like the view from the bridge on the water's power. Hopefully you get a feeling for this special atmosphere which I was going to catch in the picture. The "Kahlenberg weir" panaroma is also the December theme of a wall calendar which I was supposed to do as official year 2008 calendar of the city of Muelheim an der Ruhr. The reactions of the people when they see well known places in a 360° perspective are quite interesting and my experience is that a panaroma picture sometimes changes their point of view.
