In October 2005, I visited the Isle of Islay for the first time with the intention to visit my favourite Malt Whisky Distillery at this time (Lagavulin). It happened that the former Distillery Manager Stuart Thomson of Ardbeg, the neighbour distillery of Lagavulin (just a mile further down the road), invited me to put my tent on their ground, because the local campsite was already closed at this time of the year. I stayed for a few days under really bad weather conditions. What else can you expect in Scotland at the end of October? But I liked this place, the people and the hospitality given to me. In September 2007 I decided to revisit the Isle of Islay, Ardbeg and the other Malt Whisky Distilleries on this unique island, in order to show it to my girlfriend. This is my "Best-of" Panorama for this year, because a part of my heart belongs to this place.
