When the conditions are right, the Navesink River draws ice boating enthusiast from miles around. The ice boats range from large stately antique clippers that are over 100 years old, to modern carbon fiber speedsters, to the do-it-yourself projects. Unfortunately the season is short and often the winter is too warm for the ice to freeze thick enough to support the ice boats.
