In December of 2004 I bought a house, so I have spent a lot of time renovating this together with my dad! Of course the result was less time for photography. I've selected this photo because it really captures the past year very well and the amount of work we did. The house was built about 150 years ago. It's located in Noeveren, that's a region in Boom, Belgium. The main industry in this area was bricks and other building materials. Most of the companies closed in the forties and fifties. A lot of the ruins are still there, and luckily the government is starting to clean up and preserve them.
