The final destination on a road trip with my mother. About an 8 hour drive from Prague, Krakow (Poland) is a magnificent old city, especially the shiny historical center, where they have repaired the crumbling facades. The light in this city, choked with fumes from the leaded petrol of all the tiny Polish Fiats, makes great light for photographers, although I wouldn't want to live there.

We were on our way to the river, passing through the giant Market Square (perhaps the largest city square in Europe) when I saw this feeding frenzy of flying rats. A moving ground of filthy feathers hardly gave way as I stooped over it with my camera...
