This is an old volcanic relict located 10 kilometers southeast of the city of Cañas. It rises to 660 meters of altitude. From the top you can see the Nicoyan Gulf with some islands in front of the Tempisque River.

From the side, strong winds blow across a grass savanna, similar to the one that covers the hill "The Axe" (El Hacha), in Guanacaste National Park.

At the foot of the hill, 5 km from Cañas, there are thermal waters, used now for tourist purposes. Cañas is 172 km from San Jose and 47 km from Liberia, capital of the province of Guanacaste.
