Historic Timberline lodge sits at 6000 feet on Mount Hood (elevation 11,249 feet). Built in 1937, as part of the depression era work project, local craftsmen carved banisters and engineered massive timbers and stone into the National Historic Landmark it is today. Exterior shots of the lodge were featured in the movie “The Shining”, however the interior was reconstructed on a London soundstage. The Timberline ski area features the only 365 day lift serviced ski season in the United States.
