At the end of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Scotland, lies the ruins of Holyrood Abbey. It was built in 1128, founded by King David I, and remained in use until 1768. The Palace of Holyrood House is built on the same site as the abbey, just to the south. This is the official residence of Queen Elizabeth II when she is in Scotland.
I took quite a lot of panoramic photos this year -- it was hard to pick which I liked the best, and harder still to find the time to stitch them! Although this was not my best 2005 pano from a technical standpoint (hand-held with a flat battery), it's one of my favorites to look at. I really like the textures of the stone. There are details to look at in every angle of the image and that feeling of exploration that makes me enjoy VR images so much.
