Eden is situated on Twofold Bay, the third deepest natural harbour in the world. Originally a whaling town, its economy now centres around tourism, fishing, and the timber industry.

The Rock Pool is situated at the southern end of Aslings Beach, and is flanked by cliffs that give it a nice sense of seclusion. It is not uncommon to see dolphins patrolling up and down the beach, and humpback whales in the bay as they make their way to Antarctic waters for the summer.
