The caves name is taken from the hermit that once lived there, but over time it has been called the Giant's cave and Waum's cave after the spring that once lay beneath it. The different thing about this cave is that it is artificial. Its age is a mystery, but some people guess that the hermit lived here in the Middle Ages. The view from the cave is looking west from the Malvern Hills over Herefordshire. I'm sure that for this hermit, this was his sanctuary away from the rest of the world.

Shooting this panorama presented some different challenges from the normal. If I locked the exposure looking out, the inside was black, while if I locked the exposure looking in, the outside was white. The solution was to shoot two complete panoramas (one with the exposure locked looking out and one locked looking in) and then merge the two panoramas into one. This is what I did.
