The Church of Saint Mary & All Saints - Whalley This church has provided sanctuary from Saxon times - the church was even mentioned in the 'Doomsday Book'. If we look towards the magnificent organ built in 1727 & installed here almost a hundered years later, we see many pews, some of which used to be fitted with posts at the corners. Between these posts, were suspended brass rods, to which curtains were fitted. When drawn these provided the occupants with even greater sanctuary....
