Peter Leith pointed out that one of the stones at the Ring of Brodgar is actually two stones side by side with a small gap. He then showed that the gap between these stones points towards the rising sun at the winter solstice.

I took a few pictures of the view through the gap before sunrise since clouds were rolling in and in the event the clouds arrived almost exactly at sunrise.
