Coventry Cathedral at Christmas.

Coventry has three cathedrals; I wonder if there is another city with three? In this shot we can see the roofless ruins of the “old” cathedral of St Michael and also the Basil Spence designed replacement.

The timing is just right; we can see through the vast West window into the heart of the building. In the distance there is the cathedral spire; the second tallest in England and to its right the spire of Holy Trinity; a church which was probably associated with the third and oldest cathedral, of which there is nothing but column stumps and wall fragments now visible.

Just 20 miles from Stratford upon Avon and Warwick, Coventry, an important medieval and modern city, is worth a visit.
