View down an ancient beach ridge north of the Rio Santa.
North of the Rio Santa, Peru, 1986.
The next ridge built up well off shore resulting in the formation of a lagoon between the two ridges. Driftwood along the base of seaward facing slope (to the left in the photo) was deposited when a tsunami overwashed the younger ridges.
