Wall Drug
Wall, South Dakota (1986)
For five hundred miles on either side of Wall, South Dakota, the signs along the Interstate Highways beckon the traveler to Wall Drug. Established by the Husted family during the 20s, Wall Drug has survived by word of mouth and remarkably thorough advertising. The effect has been success; tourists go to Wall Drug by the thousands daily, often going considerably out of their way. The place has become a cultural icon of great strength and endurance, a tribute to the processes of myth-making.
