Northern California - Mount Shasta
			The town originally known as Mount Shasta City is now officially just Mount Shasta. The eponymous mountain rises almost 11,000 feet above the town. A road climbs above timberline, to a former ski resort (destroyed by avalanches), but the upper slopes and summit remain the exclusive province of hikers and climbers.
