| Mendocino City was the first and leading lumber town in the nineteenth century, but the local timber gave out early and the town quieted down until it was almost a ghost town. But the white New England style buildings were made of decay-resistant redwood and the town survives to this day. It is once again a busy place, a center for arts and tourism, and a favorite choice for movies and television needing what looks like a New England location. | |||
