Wool into carpets
Azrou, Middle Atlas Mountains

The wealth of pastoral resources of the Moroccan mountains, meaning there's a lot of wool in Morocco, is turned into a variety of textiles. In this image, you are in a rug cooperative in the Middle Atlas city of Azrou. It is not far from Fez (see Morocco location map).

You see three looms set up here. Most of the workers are girls, and often very young girls. Moroccans say that small fingers are best to draw the wool thread at the loom. It is also apparent that such labor can rob these children of their schooling.
