Riparian Vegetation/Owen's River

Tinemaha Wildlife Overview. Owen's Valley between Bishop and Independence, California.
September 1989

The presence of the Owen's River allows for tree growth and lusher vegetation in this normally semi-arid landscape. However, before the City of Los Angeles began diverting water from the Owen's Valley, riparian forest reportedly spread across the entire valley in some places.
