| As one moves to higher elevations in steppe environments, rainfall amounts typically increase. These increases are also reflected in the vegetation. Here pinyon pine (Pinus monophylla) and junipers (Juniperus sp.) intermix with other steppe species. In higher elevations and/or when rainfall amounts increase further these tree species increase their abundance. | ||||||
