Big Basin State Park
November 1973

This manzanita (Arctostaphylos sp.) and chemise (Adenostoma fasciculatum) that have grown together to appear as one root was burned in the Big Basin Fire of August 1973. Here they are seen sprouting after only three months and twenty inches of rain.
