Costa Rican Forest #3

Selva Verde, Costa Rica.
April 1993

In tropical areas where there is a short dry season (tropical wet/dry climate, Köppen Aw) the forest does not attain the height and density of rainforest in year-round wet areas. It is still very dark and difficult to photograph under the forest canopy, so this stream-side photograph shows the dominant trees in the area. Deciduousness can be noted in some of these trees.
