Lower Yosemite Falls, Yosemite National Park, California

Yosemite National Park is the most visited of all the national parks. It sits at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, in Central Eastern California. 500 million years ago this area was at the bottom of an ocean, which would later be uplifted by the Sierra Nevada mountain building event. The Ocean sediment wore away, leaving the underlying granite, which was later polished to the current shine by glaciers.

Lower Yosemite Falls seen here is definitely a popular spot. As one sees by the panorama, there is hardly any more room for people! This panorama was taken on a Saturday in the middle of summer, which would explain the surplus of people. However, even with all of the visitors, the beauty of the waterfall reminds us why so many people visit Yosemite.
